Article Review: "Why lifelong learning is the international passport to success"

Here is an article posted in aeon.co jointly written by Prof. Pierre Vandergheynst and Isabelle Cardia where they shared their perspectives on the advantages of lifelong learning.

The writers have commented that the traditional university model will be disrupted by changes in instruction and learning as technology is wiping out many of these old-fashioned pedagogical styles. They proposed that lifelong learning, particularly the sciences and mathematics be closely integrated in many of the school curricula. With MSc degrees taking the helm as they focus mainly of technical and project-based learning, students are able to build portfolio of projects that will be useful in embarking into future careers.

Yet, I do not believe that MSc degrees and science/engineering based programmes alone should largely be given priority. The arts, humanities and social sciences are disciplines that should be well-integrated into one's lifelong learning portfolio. Lifelong learners in my opinion are called to be more multidisciplinary, enabling them to understand the complex and deeper relationships of one discipline to another. I still like believe that people need to maintain their soul and attachment to the deeper emotions of the society as we all embrace changes on the surface.

I am interested to hear more from you, dear lifelong learners. What do you think?
