Why am I here at NUS? - 7 August 2012
I knew I will be here....at the right time! |
This morning, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, when he delivered his opening remarks to the incoming students. I also had the opportunity to meet fellow Filipino members of the academe: Dr. Astrid Tuminez, outgoing Vice Dean for Research and Dr. Eduardo Araral. I remembered the time when Dr. Tuminez became the guest speaker during the NUS LKYSPP Information session which I attended in Manila last year. Her info lecture convinced me to apply in this School. And what a thrilling experience to meet her again now as a student of NUS LKYSPP!
Tearfully received my scholarship letter from former Dean Kishore Mahbubani |
In the afternoon, the School formally presented me the scholarship award from my donor, together with the other scholars. As Dean Mahbubani spoke about the importance of our scholarship and until I was called in front to receive the letter, tears and emotions began to flow with so much joy and thanksgiving to the Lord Almighty. That moment allowed me to reflect on this journey and this special task He entrusted to me.
Lord, I know you have given this to me without any doubt, and I humbly accept it, with the hope of making a positive change in any way I can. Thank you very much!
