Meeting Former Pres. FVR - 5 October 2012

Former President Fidel V Ramos et moi
I'm still having that "starstruck" feeling as I write this piece.

For the first time in my life, I finally met, shook hands and discussed with our former President Fidel V. Ramos. I was still in my innocent "pa-girl" years in
high school when he became our President. Our brief conversation about how the Philippines became an economic tiger in the late 90s and how the policies during his leadership prevented the severe impact of the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 were all thought-provoking. I'm even more inspired with how he still managed to help our country even after his term ended.

Truly, I'm honored to have met one of the country's most admired Presidents of my generation.

I'm eternally grateful to the wonderful staff and consuls of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm also privileged to meet my fellow kababayans, who have become successful here in the Lion City.

I'm also thankful for the wonderful lunch I had with some of my very good friends (classmates) in NUS who always make my Singapore experience truly uplifting and inspiring.

Weekend is just hours away and I look forward to read, to learn and to be inspired. All praises and thanksgiving to you my Creator for this awesome week filled with wonderful pageant memories!
With Consul Catherine Torres of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore
