The Inner Being of a UP Centennial Graduate
Official UP Graduation Photo with our UP Sablay, an indigenous local sash woven by our local indigenous peoples |
April 27, 2008 marked another milestone in my personal academic profile, as I joined the other 4,250 graduates who went on to wear that "sablay," proudly marched onstage and received applause from hundreds and thousands of people.
On that day, I earned the distinction of being a UP Centennial Graduate.
On that very same day, I paused back, earned the silence amidst rowdy cheers and reflected why my University experience made me the kind of person I am right now.
Looking back, I felt that my attachment to this institution is more than just an academic relationship per se. I felt now that my obligation to this country is highlighted by the fact that not everyone is given the same privilege to earn a degree in UP. A number of societal and local issues have been presented in front of me not only to appreciate and extol facts, but more importantly, to act against these pressing issues and in my own capacity, create that positive difference to myself and to the society.
My UP education will always be the most important part of my life. No one will ever tarnish it, not even experiences and not even personal scrutinies.
HAPPY GRADUATION TO MY FELLOW GRADUATES!!!! WE DID IT!!!! (Again!)
